Open Public Consultations on the Future of International Cooperation of the EU

The European Commission is preparing for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which will begin in 2028. In line with President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines for the 2024-2029 European Commission, the Commission aims to develop a simpler, more focused, and responsive budget that aligns with European strategic priorities.

To support this process, seven Open Public Consultations have been launched as part of a Europe-wide campaign to gather feedback from various stakeholders on optimizing the EU budget. One of these consultations focuses on EU funding for cross-border education, training, and solidarity, youth, media, culture, and creative sectors, values, and civil society.

The target audience for the consultations includes:

  • EU institutions, national, regional, and local authorities
  • Recipients of EU funding (students, researchers, farmers, etc.)
  • Citizens
  • Businesses, SMEs, and business associations
  • Other stakeholders, such as civil society organisations, the research/scientific community, academia, think tanks, media, and international stakeholders.

The deadline to complete the questionnaire is 7 May 2025 (midnight Brussels time).

We encourage you to share this information within your networks and contribute to shaping the future of EU international cooperation!
